Ultramarines? Surely not?

I recently acquired and have built Roboute Guilliman, with a view to fielding him in apocalypse games. I'll take my time painting him, so don't expect to see him for a while. I realised, however, that he might be a bit lonely fighting alongside my Dark Angels, Grey Knights and other imperials without a little Ultramarine love around him. I've always liked the Space Marine Heroes range of models that were released in Japan, so decided to try and get hold of some to act as Guilliman's retinue, and here are the first five of them, with five more to come. I've never done Ultramarines before, and I feel a bit dirty doing them, but you know, we have to try new things!

Dreadnought merry-go round

In a moment of inspiration, I recently realised that I wanted to swap the chapters of some of my dreadnoughts around. My Dark Angel dread looked more like a Grey Knight dread, I had a new dread with a plasma cannon that would be best suited to the Dark Angels, and I needed a new Divine Exorcist dread. Therefore I decided to repaint and/or remodel them. You've already seen the Dark Angel Deathwing dreadnought, and this is the Grey Knight one. I added a banner, book and candles to the model, giving a more ostentatious look, as befitting a venerable Grey Knight. This is Panimius, reborn as a venerable dreadnought.

The Imperium returns

Wow, it's been a while since I've posted! Crikey! Sometimes I get into other hobbies for a while and lose the urge to build or paint, but it always comes back eventually. I've been quite busy in the last two weeks, so let's start posting the results. Today is the turn of yet another Dark Angel Deathwing squad. Yet again I have turned to the Dark Vengeance models, but this time I've converted a couple to keep it interesting. One now has a pair of lightning claws, and the sergeant has a thunder hammer and storm shield. The sergeant was quite a challenge to complete, and the conversion involved sawing the model in half at the waist! The final result looks great though, I think! Here is Deathwing squad Kafziel:

Leviathan Dreadnought

Today's mini is a humble Leviathan Dreadnought. This is one of the Forge World ones, which I bought just before the plastic one came out...
