A monstrous servant of Khorne

Oh my... has this taken a long time! For someone who paints so fast, painting this Kytan has been an incredibly slow process! The earliest picture I can find of this is from December 2017, where the model was partly built: that means this has taken three years to finish! Now, before you think I painted it very slowly, let me say that it for most of that time, it sat on the shelf unpainted while I worked on other models. Only recently did I actually start painting it. Still, three years is definitely a record for a finished model of mine.

I converted the Kytan somewhat, mounting a cannon on the shoulder, changing the faceplate, and, most strikingly, adding the Imperial Knight gauntlet that holds a doomed Ultramarine. Or is it the Kytan that is doomed?

The model is painted in the colour scheme of the Hounds of Abaddon. I decided I wanted to paint it with less red than my Lord of Skulls, partly because I've painted a lot of red in my life, and partly to provide a bit of variety among the Chaos horde I have assembled.

Here it is with the other Hounds of Abaddon models: a squad of Berzerkers, a Warpsmith and a winged Chaos Lord.

Psychic powers and a laser gun!

Two posts in two weeks! This is starting to look like my blog again! Today I bring you Ulanya Tremayne, who is added to the Wings of Vrayax force. She is a another model by Artel W: can you tell that I like their miniatures? She's a psyker who's also pretty handy with a laspistol. I love the clothes on her: the flowing half-skirt, the embellishment on the fabric, and the huge... collar? I'm not sure what the word for that garment is, so if anyone can tell me, please leave a comment! All these elements add up to a unique model and one that (with her new paintjob) fits in well with the rest of the army. I have some more models for the army on my shelf, waiting to be painted, so expect more sometime soon, although there are some space marines and a land raider on my desk right now, so you'll see them first! I also have a big model to show you. It's finished, but it's too big for the lightbox and I'm trying to get a good series of pictures of it. It's the weekend tomorrow, and should be sunny, so hopefully I can get some pictures of it and post them next week. Can you guess what it'll be?

Have a nice week!

Deadly assassin

Wow, it's been quite a while since I last posted! Sorry about that. I often have emotional problems in winter and find it hard to keep my hobbies going. I do also sometimes have periods where Warhammer doesn't interest me much and I tend to put it aside until the desire comes back.

But come back it has, and I have once again started building and painting. There is a difficult period here, because I'm a little rusty after such a break, and it takes a while to get used to painting again. The first model to be completed is this wonderful model by Artel W, and she will be an assassin in my Minotaurs army. Artel W have made a really nice model here. I love the pose, I love her hair, and i love the way her belt hangs low on one hip, like a Wild West gunslinger!

Her name was chosen by my girlfriend, who thought the poisoned gauntlet was reminiscent of a scorpion, and therefore suggested Chelicerata, which is the name for a group of animals that includes, among others: scorpions, spiders and horsehoe crabs.

Here she is alongside two Minotaurs marines, so you can see that she fits in well, having her own look, but with red and a little bronze to tie her to the rest of the army.

Leviathan Dreadnought

Today's mini is a humble Leviathan Dreadnought. This is one of the Forge World ones, which I bought just before the plastic one came out...
