The return of Khorne!

It's been a while since I posted any models for my favourite army (and the one for which this blog is named), The Bloodstorm. So it gives me great pleasure to say I have completed another squad of berzerkers. I keep making berzerkers for no other reason than I have lots and lots of parts for them and keep having new ideas about different ways to build them. So this squad is unique thanks to them all (save for the Champion) having heads from AoS Chaos models. They also all have chainaxes where the dangly bits have been removed. I saw someone else do this and thought it made the axes look more brutal, as well as making it easier to get an accurate flow of motion through the model, unspoiled by a tassle or two that are blowing in the wrong direction. Have no fear, this won't be my last Khorne post. I have many more units in preparation!

Ravenwing bikes

It's great to think that my Dark Angels force is nearly finished, thanks to the completion of these two Ravenwing bike squads. I managed to acquire two sets of the Dark Vengeance Ravenwing bikes, so decided to convert one squad to 'character/marine hunters' and the other squad to 'vehicle hunters'. For the former, I converted the sergeant to have a power sword... and that was it! For the latter, I converted the plasma gunner to have a meltagun instead - I had to cut the arm off at the shoulder -  and gave the sergeant a power fist. They were pretty easy to paint, and I got to make use of my Vallejo blue-grey wash on the feathery parts.

I did actually think these were the last DA models, but then I discovered a techmarine I'd built with a DA pauldron, so that will be the actual last model! Coming soon! I hope to post pictures of the complete army once the techmarine is ready. For now, here are the Ravenwing bikers:

Expanding the Grey Knights

As another effort to expand my overall Imperial force, I have acquired some bargain metal Grey Knights in power armour and terminator armour. It wasn't easy to paint them in the right silver since it was over ten years ago that I painted my original Grey Knights! I took a good stab at it thought with Ironbreaker as the base colour, and they came out quite well.

First is the terminator squad, who arrived somewhat broken, thank to poor packaging. I managed to repair a couple of them, pinning one of the halberds, but had to purchase a right arm and sword for one of them because his weapon was too difficult to fix. They came out nicely in the end. Note that these models were already painted, so I just touched them up with my own style, such as adding highlights and painting the tabards.

Next up are is a basic strike squad, who have no notable features except the blue right pauldrons - I use coloured right pauldrons to distinguish between squads.

Finally, this squad was painted up as a purifier squad. I decided to do this after painting them as a strike squad and then realising that I could actually have two special weapons in a strike squad... oops... no problem though - add some white helmets and pauldrons and voila, a purifier squad!

Leviathan Dreadnought

Today's mini is a humble Leviathan Dreadnought. This is one of the Forge World ones, which I bought just before the plastic one came out...
